Safe Places for Faith Communities 2025-26

NSW Government · NSW

NSW non-profit sharing organisations need legal and institutional authority to implement security measures at places where faith communities gather, including worship, seminaries, theological colleges or other specialist religious educational institutions, retreat, cemetery and memorial sites. Recipients in 2023-24 or 2024-25 may seek different security measures. Evidence of need, appropriate insurance and licences, and acquittal of prior grants that are due for acquittal are required. Published Pathway A and B ranges overlap at exactly A$50,000; confirm the risk-assessment requirement at that amount. Excluded costs include started capital works, general building improvements, security guards, weapons, living accommodation, and core or recurrent operating costs. One year of maintenance for new grant-funded security equipment may be supported. The guidelines list chapels and prayer rooms as excluded; confirm any place-specific exception with the funder. Not-for-profit incorporated organisations, including religious groups, plus government agencies and university groups may apply for an eligible nationally significant Australian moveable cultural heritage collection accessible to the public by appointment, online or through exhibitions. Organisations managing a collection need written permission from its legal owner, and relevant collection partnerships need supporting details and a letter of support. Collection preservation generally follows significance assessment, preservation needs assessment, then recommended conservation or collection management; initial collection-management software and eligible training have separate provisions. Grassroots Grants Round 7

Green Adelaide · SA

Churches and religious institutions are expressly eligible applicants for projects undertaken on a not-for-profit basis within the Green Adelaide region. The project must contribute to a Board focus area and environmental outcomes; church status alone does not make ordinary building or worship costs eligible. Individuals, sole traders and applicants without legal status need a legal sponsor responsible for receiving funds and acquittal. Local councils and government agencies cannot apply, except schools, kindergartens and early learning centres/children's centres. Outstanding reports from earlier Grassroots rounds prevent funding unless an approved variation exists. Private-land projects generally need at least 50% landholder cash, with stated exceptions for properties owned or managed by sporting clubs, schools, community organisations or other publicly accessible entities and significant public or ecological benefit; private land also needs at least two hectares and a land management plan or work towards one, with smaller sites considered for significant benefit. Confirm how the private-land rules apply to the church site. Landholder permission and relevant permit evidence are required. General infrastructure, furniture and property-boundary fencing are excluded.

WA State Heritage Grants 2026-27

Heritage Council of Western Australia · WA

Private owners of State Registered places need comprehensive building insurance and generally three years on title, subject to narrow newer-owner and eligible non-government-lessee exceptions. Assessment-program owners may seek Conservation Management Plan funding; local governments qualify only for eligible conservation documentation. Works generally use 50:50 cash matching; documentation and eligible heritage professional fees use 80:20 funder:applicant. Professional fees are within the works cap, and the conservation form specifies a maximum of 20% of project total. In-kind is not accepted. Major funding has additional discretionary criteria. Excludes new construction, property purchase, ordinary maintenance and work before the agreement. No hardship reduction for nonprofits or commercial applicants. Unfinished previous-round grants require funder confirmation.

Funding
Up to A$50000 conservation or A$100000 eligible major conservation; up to A$16000 documentation. Eligible combined applications may total A$66000 or A$116000 respectively; the higher cap is conditional.
