Editorial and sponsorship policy

How Church Grants Australia sources, verifies, ranks, corrects and discloses grant information.

Effective: 31 August 2026 Publisher: The Trustee for Carpenter Family Trust, ABN 82 782 069 476, publishing Church Grants Australia as an unregistered project name. Editorial and corrections owner: the publisher, contacted through the monitored form at /corrections.

Our promise

Church Grants Australia helps organisations make better-informed funding decisions. Grant information is selected, interpreted and ordered for usefulness, not for payment. The service is independent of funders unless a relationship is disclosed clearly.

Sources and verification

  • An official funder or administering-body source is required for every published grant record.
  • A secondary source may identify an opportunity but is not sufficient by itself for publication.
  • Each record shows the official link, the date the source was checked, a verification status and a plain-language source note.
  • Current, upcoming, recurring, closed and stale information are distinguished explicitly.
  • A deadline, amount, opening status or eligibility rule is never inferred from an earlier round or invented to fill a gap.
  • Unclear rules are labelled as uncertainty and referred to the funder.
  • A second person must reopen the official source and review each material field before a production record can be marked verified.
  • Material source changes are recorded and stale records are warned, corrected or removed promptly.

All 38 launch records passed independent source review and were marked verified on 30 August 2026. Verification records what the reviewer confirmed on that date; it is not a guarantee that a funder will not change a round or rule later. A later failed source retrieval makes the affected record stale and removes it from publication until independent re-review.

Original summaries and source rights

Church Grants Australia writes original summaries from official sources, quotes only what is necessary and attributes the source. It does not scrape or reproduce a paid grant database without an explicit commercial licence permitting that use. Source ownership, access and known terms are recorded in the source register; unclear automated-access or reuse terms must be resolved before that method is used in production.

What inclusion means

Inclusion means the editors consider an opportunity potentially relevant to an Australian church or faith organisation. It is not an endorsement of the funder, a promise of eligibility, a complete comparison of every grant or a prediction of success.

Ranking and presentation

Organic results may consider:

  • relevance to the selected project and organisation-level attributes;
  • geography and current round status;
  • proximity of a verified deadline;
  • completeness and freshness of verified information; and
  • an explicit sorting or filtering choice made by the user.

Payment, sponsorship, referral arrangements and ownership interests do not influence organic grant inclusion, ranking or eligibility interpretation. Research-stage and sponsored material must not be presented in a way that could be mistaken for independently verified organic guidance.

Sponsorship and supplier relationships

No sponsorship, paid listing, affiliate link or supplier-introduction feature is active in the reviewed MVP. If one is introduced:

  • paid material is labelled Sponsored, Advertisement or Paid listing where the user sees it;
  • the identity of the paying or benefiting party and the nature of a material relationship are disclosed;
  • sponsors do not approve grant summaries or eligibility guidance;
  • sponsored educational material remains under editorial control;
  • a supplier must not imply that buying its service secures a grant;
  • any referral fee is disclosed before or at the point of an opt-in introduction;
  • an official grant link is never conditional on commercial engagement; and
  • the relationship and ranking separation are auditable.

Church Grants Australia may refuse, correct or remove commercial material that creates a conflict with accuracy, user welfare or trust.

Ownership conflicts

Any materially related business or advisory relationship must be disclosed on the site and on materially related content. A related business receives no private browsing data, undisclosed lead, favourable eligibility treatment or organic ranking advantage.

Corrections and complaints

Users and funders have a visible, monitored form at /corrections. The operating process is:

  1. record the affected page, disputed field, reporter's source and time received;
  2. aim to acknowledge a material correction within two business days;
  3. prioritise an urgent deadline, round-status or eligibility issue;
  4. reopen the official source and preserve the uncertainty rather than guessing;
  5. show a stale or review warning while a serious issue is unresolved;
  6. correct, archive or remove the material and record a material change; and
  7. tell the reporter the outcome where contact details were provided.

Correction messages must not be used for promotion. Reporters are asked not to include sensitive beneficiary, pastoral or personal religious information.

AI use

AI may help discover changes, compare source material, structure data and draft plain-language explanations. AI output is not an official source and cannot turn an uncertain rule into a verified fact. A human is accountable for publication, and an independent second-person review is required before a material grant record is marked verified.

AI must not fabricate evidence, consultation, quotations, partners or outcomes, and must not silently overwrite source-supported facts.

Removal requests

A removal request is assessed against accuracy, public-source rights, safety and the public interest. A funder's preference alone does not rewrite an official public fact, but access restrictions, personal information, safety concerns, source withdrawal, copyright or material inaccuracy may justify correction, reduced detail or removal. The reason and outcome should be documented.

Review and ownership

This policy is reviewed at least annually and whenever the revenue model, ranking logic, data sources or ownership relationships change materially. The publisher is accountable for the policy and editorial operation.
