Plain-language grant guidance
Church grant co-contributions and matched funding
‘Matching’ can mean cash only, cash plus eligible in-kind support, or a contribution calculated against only part of the project.
Build a funding table from the program’s definition. Never assume volunteer time, donated materials or money already spent will count.
Read the formula
Check the required ratio, cap, eligible expenditure period and evidence needed.
- Cash versus in-kind
- Whether GST is included
- Maximum grant percentage
- Treatment of committed third-party funds
Document in-kind support
Where permitted, use credible hours, rates and records.
- Name the task, not the volunteer’s beliefs
- Use the funder’s rate if supplied
- Avoid double-counting
- Keep timesheets and donation evidence
